A little bit about the town of Pierson

Pierson is the service center for the R.M. of Edward. We are a small proud community of approximately 200 people.

We have a community restaurant (Heritage Restaurant) with a 65 seat capacity, which offers everything from appetizers to salads and Friday night steaks.

We have successfully hosted the Carnival of Crafts for the last 31 years, with over 80 crafters that averages an attendance of 1300 people. This event takes place at the Edward Sports Center (the local arena), the first Saturday in October. Doors open to the public at 12:00 noon.

The community hosts a grades K-12 school, 2 churches, a grain elevator, community hall, seniors lodge, fitness center, doctor office (closed at this time), Royal Bank and a wider variety of businesses which are listed in our business section.

A little bit about the town of Lyleton

Lyleton is the smaller town in the R.M. of Edward with a population of 41 people. Its a close-knit community, with a community hall where fall suppers are held annually, a church, and post office. The person to contact for the Lyleton Community Club is Bill Bird. He may be reached at (204) 649-2384. There is also a group of crafters that get together on a regular basis.

Lyleton United Church is a beautiful historic church of over 100 years old. If anyone is looking for a traditional brick church with the original windows, some of which are stained glass, please visit this church.

Something very unique around Lyleton is the shelterbelts which surround the area. It looks from the air like a patchwork quilt sown with green thread. Two million trees were planted in 325 miles of shelterbelts, which aid in holding the soil in place during dry windy times of the year. The first trees were planted in 1937. They are interesting to see, and seem to attract different birds and wildlife to this area of the R.M. of Edward.
