Dr. William
G. Hobbs was a long time practicing physician in the
Southeast
Saskatchewan and Southwestern Manitoba area. His home
and hospital
was at Gainsborough, Saskatchewan. Many of our older
generation
remember him, both for his medical work and his involvement
in sports
and community.
Now Dr.
Hobbs is known for his exceptional talent with a paint brush.
He is
called a “Master Painter of Railways” and there are very few
communities
in our area who have not had a portrait of their CPR
Station
re-created on canvas by this talented artesian.
Pierson,
Manitoba is also pleased to announce that Dr. Wm. Hobbs
is presently
working on our own CPR portrait. Our picture depicts
the train
station, grain elevator and local buildings as shown.
The steam
engines and the train stations played an important part in the
developing
of our young prairie communities. Everyone in the early days
had a
connection to the train station. The trains brought in news and cargo,
plus new
immigrants, family and friends.
The Pierson
portrait is available for purchase.
